About The Club

Finchingfield Gun Club is a clay pigeon skeet shooting club located in North Essex.

Formed in the early 1970’s, Finchingfield Gun Club has always been sited at the current location. The club, which comprises two English skeet layouts, meets once a week from early spring through to late summer. Fixtures are available here.

The main trophy, shot for annually by way of a handicap system is The Bob Dean Trophy. Bob was one of the very earliest members of the club; a US airman, based at RAF Wethersfield. When Bob returned to the States, he presented the club with the trophy in appreciation of the good times he had shared with other members. The trophy has been contested every year since Bob left the UK and has been won by three generations of the same family. The handicap system is decided on the first card averages of each member as shot over the length of the preceding year and the system is such that the winner can be drawn from any level of ability.

Organised and run by a Committee chosen annually by the members, the club has at its centrepiece, a friendly atmosphere and a continually reviewed set of safe shooting procedures and practices. To discuss membership opportunities, please contact us.
